Well, our time at Saco River Camping Area has ended. Our last day of work was September 30th and, our departure was bittersweet. Although there were some trying and frustrating days, overall, we enjoyed our experience and loved getting to know everyone we worked with. Although the campground remains open until October 17th, we negotiated to leave early so we could move on to our next job. As we mentioned earlier, one of the benefits of workamping is negotiating your work terms and conditions.
We were thrilled that our son and his girlfriend were able to visit us before our departure, and even more excited that they were interested in hiking Mt. Washington with us! Mike and I had been to Mt. Washington twice before. Two years ago, we drove up the auto road, and a few weeks ago, we took the cog railway to the top with family members. On September 25th, we hiked to the summit and back for a total of 7.4 miles. What a beautiful day it was!! Since we have been in New Hampshire, we have completed 18 hikes for a total of 77.2 miles. There is so much more to see and do, but it is now time to move on to our next location! Stay tuned!
